Upcoming: Music in the Nave, Kent, CT
featuring Brahms' Four Songs, Britten's Missa Brevis, and more!
Chorus Angelicus is preparing for an exciting concert on Saturday, March 29th at the celebrated Music in the Nave series at St. Andrew’s Church in Kent, Connecticut. This performance will showcase the choir’s exceptional versatility as they tackle a fascinating and dynamic program. The young singers will open with a beloved choral classic—Johannes Brahms' Four Songs for Treble Choir and Two Horns, Op. 17, a masterwork of Romantic choral writing that intertwines rich harmonies with poetic lyricism. The program will then transport audiences through evocative poetry from Germany to Scotland and the world of Shakespeare, immersing listeners in centuries of musical storytelling.
The concert will also feature Benjamin Britten’s Missa Brevis, a cornerstone of treble choral repertoire, celebrated for its intricate interplay of voices and Britten’s signature harmonic language. Adding a vibrant contemporary twist, the choir will present Matthew Harris' Object Lesson, a powerful and engaging suite of three choral settings based on the poetry of Mexican Nobel laureate Octavio Paz. This eclectic program will challenge and inspire both singers and audiences alike, making for an unforgettable musical evening.
We are always welcoming new choristers!
