Training Choirs

 Directed by Karen Sovak

Chorus Angelicus invites all children interested in singing to join the non-auditioned Training Choir for a lively one and a half hour session per week. Classes are based on creative instruction designed to develop music and performance skills. Each session includes a segment of ear training and theory, musical activities, movement, and repertoire.

It is the perfect opportunity for a child to participate in the joy of making music, singing music from all over the world in native tongues. The training choir meets weekly in Torrington from September to June. Performance opportunities may include several concerts during the year featuring the Training Choir alone and collaborative concerts with the Junior and Senior Choristers of Chorus Angelicus.

Boys and Girls, Kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to join. A training Choir member may be encouraged to audition for Chorus Angelicus when he/she exhibits a strong, accurate voice, passion for singing, and the willingness to work.

The training choir provides learning experiences which develop the musical and social skills necessary to move on to the next level. Few experiences touch the heart more directly than the glorious sound of children singing. The language of song engages the mind, body, and spirit of both the listener and singer. Chorus Angelicus is a welcoming place for children who commit to hard work, good music and fun!
