A choral concert on June 11th will bring the best vocal talent from Litchfield and Berkshire Counties together with an explosive assembly of percussionists to perform an exciting program of both beloved and brand new compositions, including two pieces receiving their world premiere. Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus, under the direction of Gabriel Löfvall, will team up with The Berkshire Children’s Chorus, under the direction of Julie Bickford, accompanied by some of the area’s most dynamic up-and-coming percussionists to present CHASM: The Splendor of Voice and Percussion.

The Concert will take place in the famous Music Shed on the Yale/Norfolk Campus, a highly significant venue for this unique collaboration. Performing at the legendary Shed represents a kind of homecoming for both groups. Paul Halley 25 founded chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus in Norfolk years ago and the Berkshire Children’s Chorus, which was founded at the same time, is under the direction of Julie Bickford, a former Chorus Angelicus chorister and director.

This is a first-time collaboration for these two choral groups, known for the their exquisite sound and professional music making. The team of percussionists is headed up by Norfolk native Andrew Thomson, who first suggested the unusual collaboration of voice and percussion.

The performance will be presented free of charge.
